The sounds of metal clanged, and wheels rolled over mounds of dirt, as at least a hundred workers labored on the otherwise quiet morning at the construction site of an office building.
But not just any office building. Folded Wings, as it’s dubbed by the team at Form4 Architecture, is meant to be a sanctuary for winged creatures as well as humans.
“Upon arrival from the parking garage, visitors encounter a butterfly theme embodied in a folded roof and a folded façade,” John Marx, chief artistic officer at Form4, explained in his application for this award. “Folding is the leitmotif of this project.”
