Gateway at Millbrae Station goal is to redefining what the greater region andMillbrae considers a gateway location, creating more transit-oriented developments around stations to increase ridership and boost revenue. The mixed-use development is on nine acres adjacent to public transportation and includes: 150,000 square feet of office space, up to 45,000 square feet of retail space and as many as 350 market-rate apartments along with a 110-room extended-stay hotel.
Prepared to break ground on the project by late 2018, the build-out should take five to seven years. Because the Millbrae station services BART, Caltrain, and includes a SamTrans bus pickup and drop-off area, the three agencies are coordinating to ensure all access modes are supported by the new development. The station is also slated to be a stop on the planned high-speed rail line.
