Bay Club Marin is Western Athletic Club’s debut in the Marin marketplace. The adaptive reuse project by Form4 Architecture, in collaboration with Orlando Diaz-Azcuy Design Associates, transformed the Corte Madera Town Center’s former J.C. Penny into one of the Bay Area’s premier health and fitness resorts.

The stark transformation from a simple 1952 “big-box” retail space to an exclusive, state-of-the-art fitness facility meant that the architectural design and overall project management was dictated by significant code upgrades and coordination with neighbors. One of the most provocative design moves was the conversion of an existing loading dock into a 25-yard indoor swimming pool replete with a new façade.
